THIS TIME LAST YEAR

This time last year

I fell to the floor

Crying my eyes out when they should be at rest(asleep)

I couldn’t breathe

My heart was numb while my mind ran wild

I struggled to find the words I struggled to see a reason

He had whispered in my ear- ‘hang in there child, don’t give up’

I felt it in my spirit, even though I couldn’t see it

The pain was a lesson but it was now time I got up

As blind as I was, he rose me to my feet

My heart had been broken but he kept all the pieces

The tears I cried would like a river soon flow

This time last year

I picked up my pen and wrote down my pain

Just so I could show others a better way

I thought I found a way out just for me

But he knew that soon others would be able to see

This time last year

Little could I see

And now when my mind travels back to this time last year

With tears in my eyes and grace in my life

I whisper every night- ‘Thank you for saving me’

I might still be broken but you still have all the pieces.
